Eneco sponsoring The Bournemouth and Poole Big Green Fortnight

Eneco is pleased to announced that it will be sponsoring education events during The Bournemouth and Poole Big Green Fortnight from Friday 20th May to Sunday 5th June.
These education events will take place in schools across Bournemouth and Poole from Monday 23rd May to Friday 27th providing local children with a range of opportunities to learn about their natural environment and sustainable living.
The education events being held during The Big Green Fortnight include:
- A range of hands-on practical activities to study the biodiversity and habitats within school grounds, delivered by local provider, Tricia Zimmerman of Environmental Learning Solutions.
- Busy Bees - Fun and accessible talk aimed at reconnecting children with nature, focussing on bees and their habitats, life-cycle and pollination, delivered by Brigit Strawbridge, of TV’s “It’s not easy being green”
- Recycler, the Rapping Robot - Recycler is an interactive robot that teaches pupils to reduce, reuse and recycle. This involves storytelling with theatrical props, and quizzes, with follow-up activities for the school. This is delivered by Wastewatch, the charity promoting waste reduction.
- Green Dragons - A high-impact event unlocking entrepreneurial flair for inventing or innovating environmentally-friendly products. This is provided by local organisation Bright Green Enterprise.
About The Big Green Fortnight
The Bournemouth and Poole Big Green Fortnight is all about promoting sustainability and our natural environment in fun and exciting ways that everyone can enjoy. The event has been organised by a team of people from a range of organisations including the local authorities, the local NHS, Dorset Energy Advice Centre, and Transition BH Hub. It follows a successful fortnight in 2009 when over 7,500 people attended 65 events across the conurbation.
