Eneco meets with South coast boating clubs
03 October 2011
Eneco met with local boating representatives at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes on Friday 30th September to provide further information on the proposed Navitus Bay wind park.
A presentation about Navitus Bay was given by Project Director Chris Sherrington and Consents Manager Helen Cassini to 30 representatives from boating clubs along the South coast. This was followed by a Q&A session, with those at the meeting asking questions about the potential impact of the proposed offshore wind park on their recreational activities.
Eneco has already held public information days presenting the proposals to members of the public in November 2010 and March 2011, and attended the meeting on Friday as part of its formal consultation with key stakeholder groups, such as the local yachting and sailing community.
Chris Sherrington says, “Eneco is keen to talk with all stakeholder groups that have an interest in Navitus Bay. This is part of our continued commitment to inform people about our plans and proposals during the planning stage of the development.
“Eneco understands how important recreational boating is to the region and is keen to listen to the community’s views on the proposed development. At the meeting we had positive discussions and look forward to continuing our consultation with representatives from the boating community throughout the lifetime of the project.”
Further stakeholder meetings and events about Navitus Bay are set to be held by Eneco throughout the formal consultation process, with public exhibitions taking place at venues across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in February 2012.
