Navitus Bay meets logo competition winner Danni Cain

17 December 2012

Navitus Bay has today (Monday 17th December 2012) invited Danni Cain to the project team’s design agency studio, Michon Design, to see how her winning design is contributing to the company’s new and distinctive brand identity.

In May 2012, the 18 year old student from New Milton beat a number of other entrants in a competition to create the new corporate logo for the Navitus Bay Wind Park. The competition provided a genuine opportunity for the local community to shape the look and feel of the project, and Danni’s submission was judged to be the clear winner for its creativity and design.

Since winning the competition, Danni’s logo has featured on information presented in meetings the developer Navitus Bay Development Ltd. (Navitus Bay) has held with MPs, local councillors and other stakeholders. An aspiring designer herself, Danni completed a Graphic Design Foundation qualification at the Arts University College, in Bournemouth and is due to go to University to study graphic design next year.

With Navitus Bay set to revamp its branding in the New Year, including a new and interactive project website, Danni was invited to take a break from her studies to visit Navitus Bay’s offices and join the company’s design team for the day to develop her concept further.

 Danni said:

“I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to come and meet Michon’s graphic designers to see how my design has been refined to be the cornerstone of Navitus Bay’s new brand identity. It has been really useful to see how a design agency works and I can’t wait to open a newspaper and see my logo featured! Michon have also offered me a work placement next year which is wonderful news.”

Caroline Matthews, Senior Account Marketing Manager at Michon, added:

“We were very impressed with the work that Danni produced. With the offer of a work placement for next year, she will work alongside our team to gain valuable industry experience. Navitus Bay is a fantastic project, and we're proud to be working alongside their team to create their brand guidelines and communication materials.”

Mike Unsworth, Project Director for Navitus Bay Development Ltd, added:

“Having been impressed by the creativity of Danni’s design, we were delighted to bring her on board to work with a team of experts to help evolve her design yet further for use on a whole range of materials such as websites, posters and stationery. Navitus Bay takes its engagement with local communities extremely seriously and is committed to involving members of the local community at all levels, particularly as we move to the next stage of consultation in February next year.”
