Consultation

Navitus Bay takes its engagement with local communities and stakeholders extremely seriously. It would like to understand your thoughts on its proposals and no decisions will be made without comprehensive consultation with all interested parties.

Since 2010, consultation has taken place with a wide range of statutory consultees, interested stakeholder groups, members of the public and elected members. Navitus Bay has set out how it will consult on the project with the local community, residents, businesses, organisations and visitors to the area in a Statement of Community Consultation (SOCC) which was published in November 2011. Under the Planning Act 2008, there is a requirement to undertake pre-application consulation with local communities (in accordance with Section 47 of this Act).

To make sure everyone has the chance to help shape the plans, the community consultation has four phases. All feedback already received from Phases One and Two has been recorded and considered.

Did you know?
Navitus Bay has said throughout the project that it is keen to hear the views of the local community. So far it has met over 2,000 members of the public.

Navitus Bay’s consultation activities will follow best practice principles and will be carried out in accordance with government policy and recognised best practice guidance.

Its objectives are to:

  • Notify and Inform the local community about the proposals
  • Consult with as many different audiences in as many different ways as is practical
  • Measure and analyse the responses to the consultation process
  • Respond to feedback received during the on-going consultation and engagement process
  • Report and Publish on the consultation process to be submitted with the planning application
  • Continuous Engagement, even after an application has been submitted
